Founded by a network of science researchers, the ALBA network aims to promote equity and diversity in the brain sciences. It is committed to promoting fair and diverse scientific communities.

Indeed, members of under-represented groups face persistent barriers to equitable representation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), particularly at advanced stages targeted by implicit bias and workplace culture. While the historical underpinnings and manifestations of under-representation vary across groups, disciplines and regions, there are striking commonalities in the final outcome: an apparent "leaky pipeline" that depletes the talent pool. The cost of this loss of talent is significant - for individuals, for research, but above all for society as a whole.

ALBA's mission is therefore to promote equity and inclusion. The adoption of measures will benefit all members of the research community and the scientific enterprise itself.
