Axe 1 : Génomique, cellules humaines, reprogrammation et neuro-organoïdes

Team research theme:

The team studies how genetic factors contribute to neurological disorders, with a particular interest in the mechanistic links between rare inherited diseases and age-related neurodegenerative diseases.  We are currently pursuing the following directions in our research.

  • Mechanistic link between rare monogenic diseases (mitochondrial and lysosomal storage diseases) and complex age-associated brain disorders (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease).
  • Links between seemingly unrelated diseases such as inflammatory bowel diseases, infections, and Parkinson’s disease.

In this context, we investigate how specific genetic traits can protect against infectious diseases and predispose to neurodegeneration. To this end, we developed models with induced pluripotent stem cells and long-term organoid cultures combined with single-cell analysis. 

Main techniques and approaches used :

Human iPSCs, organoid cultures, spatial transcriptomics, single cell omics.
