Mechanisms and Therapy of Genetic Brain Diseases
Institut Imagine
Axe 1 : Génomique, cellules humaines, reprogrammation et neuro-organoïdes
Team research theme:
Our research aims to understand how discrete genetic factors contribute to the development of neurological disorders, with a particular focus on the link between mitochondrial metabolism and immune pathways in Parkinson's disease (PD). To this end, we are developing human pluripotent stem cell models and long-term organoid cultures combined with single-cell omics to identify the role of disease-related genetic variants and to validate targets with diagnostic and therapeutic potential. Another major research focus is the relationship between infection-related immune responses and the risk of neurological disease. In particular, we are interested in how specific disease-related genetic traits confer both susceptibility or protection to infectious diseases and predisposition to neurodegeneration. To this end, we are developing microfluidic models using human iPSCs and long-term organoid cultures coupled with single-cell omics.
Main techniques and approaches used :
Human iPSCs, organoid cultures, spatial transcriptomics, single cell omics.
