Axe 2 : Approches quantitatives à l'exploration du comportement et de la cognition
Team research topics:
The Language and Cognition team investigates the mechanisms and constraints at play in the early acquisition of language, and in the development of cognition. For language, we are interested in the role of the general properties of languages and the specific properties of the language(s) being acquired, together with the dynamics of the interactions between endogenous and exogenous constraints. Our studies investigate several processing levels, from phonology, including the acoustic dimension of the speech signal, to morpho-syntax. For cognition, we mostly focus on representations of space and quantities, as well as on social cognition, again assessing the role of endogenous vs. exogenous factors. Yet other projects explore the interaction between language and cognition during development.
Main techniques used:
We use a variety of techniques: behavioral methods (visual habituation, preferential choice procedure, eyetracking), or brain imaging methods (electrophysiology, evoked potentials, NIRS).
