Team research topics:

Our research investigates the functions of a novel signaling mechanism based on the intercellular transfer of homeoprotein (HP) transcription factors. A first major focus is on neurodegeneration involving neuron survival regulated by the transfer of ENGRAILED1 HP (EN1). We aim to fully understand EN1 activity and foresee disruptive therapeutic strategies for neurogenerative diseases. A second major focus is the regulation of cerebral cortex developmental and adult plasticity by the transfer of OTX2 HP between choroid plexus cells and cortical interneurons. The goal is to gain molecular insight at the proteomic, genetic, and epigenetic levels in these brain cells with mechanistic studies of sensory-motor diseases and mood disorders.

  

Main techniques used:

hIPSC-derived motoneurons, transgenic mice, viral vectors, molecular biology, proteomics, transcriptomics, mouse behavior (inhibition, stereotypy, social, motor, memory)
