The purpose of our project is to promote translational research in the field of mood disorders. We seek to characterize some dimensions of psychiatric disorders by investigating brain circuits plasticity and neuroimmune signaling in order to identify novel therapeutics. We believe that disentangling the causal links that mediate internal responses to behavior, in the healthy and pathological brain, is a necessary step for innovative therapeutical approaches. Today, a major obstacle hindering our understanding of brain function is the fragmentation of brain research and the vast collection of data it produces. Understanding brain function with a holistic vision that integrates molecular, cellular and system levels, but also includes systemic brain-body interactions, is a prerequisite to unravel the mechanism of brain disorders. For this reason, our project aims at nurturing a virtuous circle between basic research and the clinic.
