DEC-ENS-PSL
Axe 2 : Approches quantitatives à l'exploration du comportement et de la cognition
Axe 3 : Réseaux neuronaux, modélisation et intelligence artificielle
Team research topics:
The DEC explores all aspects of human cognition, from normal to abnormal functioning (healthy subjects, subjects with developmental disorders and subjects with acquired deficits), at all stages of life (infants, children and adolescents, adults and elderly subjects). It combines theoretical and conceptual studies, computational modelling, experimental studies and the use of data science and Big Data.
Linking mental functions to their underlying psychological mechanisms and their genetic and neural bases is the focus of DEC research. From a fundamental point of view, this research provides a better understanding of how the brain works and how human beings behave, and from an applied research point of view, develops cognitive tools based on this theoretical knowledge to improve the education system, the healthcare system, public policies etc.
Main techniques used :
The DEC research integrates a wide range of tools to explore human behavior:
- theoretical tools: conceptual analysis, logic, philosophy, analytics, formal linguistics, computational modeling
- experimental tools: experimental psychology, developmental psychology, psycholinguistics, psychophysics, brain imaging, neuropsychology, big data analysis
