Axe 3 : Réseaux neuronaux, modélisation et intelligence artificielle

Team research topics:

The NeuroSpeech team seeks to understand the neural computations that enable our brain to perceive and produce speech from a fundamental perspective to design science-based therapies for neurodevelopmental and acquired speech disorders. It has four main axes. In the repair of cortical auditory dysfunctions axis we are targeting two language disorders that involve dysfunctions in the auditory cortex: dyslexia and autism spectrum disorders (ASD). In both cases, we characterize alterations in the auditory oscillatory activity and design possible therapeutic interventions, including brain stimulation or neurofeedback. In the genetic bases of auditory neural oscillatory processes axis, we contribute to the establishment of a global neurogenetic model of speech perception based on the genetics of neural oscillations. In thedecoding inner speech axis,we develop a brain-machine interface to restore oral communication in patients with severe speech production disorders, by decoding speech directly from neural signals. Finally in the oscillatory plasticity and speech acquisition axis, we investigate the neural oscillatory principles underlying the concomitant learning of speech perception and production in young children to identify specific therapeutic periods for speech and language disorders.
